A leader in the delivery of online and blended (hybrid) programming at the graduate level, Royal Roads University also offers a dozen Bachelor’s level degrees in Business Administration, Communications, the Environment, Hotel and Tourism Management, and Interdisciplinary Studies. Situated in a spectacular water-front setting just a few miles from Victoria’s city centre, Royal Roads University occupies land and buildings that were a private residence and then a military academy. Although there are many other buildings on campus, some of them very striking, the centre-piece of the campus is Hatley Castle and its gardens. The castle, commissioned by coal baron James Dunsmuir and completed in 1908 is surrounded by stunning gardens and houses the administrative offices of the university. Some visitors to Hatley Castle recognize it from the part it played in the filming of some of the “X-Men” movies. From the front of the castle, the view to the Olympic Mountains and the Strait of Juan de Fuca is breath-taking. To learn more about Hatley Castle, click here
