St. John’s College in Santa Fe, New Mexico is a “Great Books” college, its curriculum centered on the highly influential works of western literature, science, mathematics, music, politics, philosophy, etc. Students attend seminars on a wide variety of topics and take on full responsibility for adding intelligent, well-informed commentary in a Harkness Table environment. The campus, in the hills of Santa Fe, is spiritually as well as logistically comfortable and welcoming. Applying to St. John’s can be accomplished via the USA Common Application system or by using the college’s online (or print) wholistic application which asks students to write three essays.
