From its elevated location above the city, the University of San Diego looks down on Mission Bay and Sea World San Diego, to the West. Beautiful buildings, floral displays, and wide, inviting pedestrian walks help students feel at home in a relaxed atmosphere of learning and community service. USD buildings are built in the 16th century Spanish Renaissance architectural style. Beaches, mountains, downtown San Diego and the Mexican border are all within a short drive.
An institution founded in the Catholic faith, USD welcomes students from all faith traditions. The liberal arts approach to education fostered at USD includes a core curriculum that requires students to study across arts and science areas, but also requires courses in fine arts, religious and theological studies, and philosophy. Service is a major component of a USD education.
